Youth is Wasted on the Young
I remember the first time I heard that quote. I was 17 and my grandmother said it to me.
I thought she was nuts. What the hell did that mean, "youth is wasted on the young"?
Crazy lady.
Well, now that I have seen HSM 3, I totally understand.
I sat for 2 hours watching those hard, tight, stretch mark free bodies sing their way through senior year with the biggest crisis being whether to go to Stanford early or finish senior year.
Don't get me wrong, it's really entertaining. Come to think of it, my life was one big musical number at 17. Would I drive my cute self down to Malibu in the Mustang convertible? Or, would I head on down to Melrose and go shopping with friends? Decisions.
Sitting in that theatre, watching them frolic in the rain, I felt like youth was punching me in the face. Repeatedly.
Having your whole life ahead of you. And, all the energy, enthusiasm to make it all happen.
No need for Prozac, Botox or Biofreeze.
Now, y'all know I love my life. In the scheme of things, I am young. I am incredibly blessed, yada, yada, yada... just let me vent for a minute.
My son is closer to being 17 than I am.
How can this be?
Will I think his friends are hot? Cause I do think Zack Efron is pretty darn cute....did you see the preview for his next movie? Hello.
There is just that youthful freshness that is gone after 30. Not that you don't trade it for a comfort in who you are, life experience and deep, meaningful relationships, right?
Right.

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not
understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and
recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before
you and how fabulous you really looked….You’re not as fat as you
imagine.
"We had joy we had fun,
We had seasons in the sun."
You're probably too YOUNG to remember that one!
LOL
I don't think I could sit thru HSM3but I heard it was pretty entertaining. Turning 31 here a few months and while I know its not old, its older to me. What happened to 17 or even 21?
I couldn't wait to turn 30.
word.
you totally still look youthfully fresh by the way.
ahem.
Did I just make things weird?
Wait, seriously...did I just say that? As if I don't have a hot husband.
Our meaningful relationship will be youthfully refreshed very soon. Very. Soon. I need it to be. I'm counting on it. For real.
Do you really like the HSM? My MIL loves them and my daughter love them. I can't stomach the music. Greece was so much better with the music, although the acting was still very cheesy.
Course the scariest thought it that my son is only 4 years younger than my husband. Maybe I'm the one with the issues.
Wheres My Angels: When you see the abs, you'll eat your words. Seriously.
I loved being 17. I know, I know, I wasn't supposed to, but I did. Honestly, I kind of had the self assurance and smarts of a 30 year old. I had a really good time, and have no regrets. I wouldn't go back, but sometimes it sure is nice to reminisce.
And, what's up with Viagra guy?
Where did he come from? I kept waiting for the punch line, but it never (came).
Oh, wait, I just made my own punch line.
Ha, ha.
My kids is 17 in less than six months, BIG sigh.
I am happy where I am now! But I wouldn't mind my 20 year old body.
That must be a sign that I'm getting old I guess. - sigh-
I still feel old.
Luckily my boys aren't very into it.
We saw the Beverly Hills Chihuahua movie this weekend, cute, but corny. We laughed a lot though.
