Awkward Monday.

The Boy and I went on a walk.

Well, I walked, he rode his scooter.

Um, rode might be to much of an action word... it was more like, barely ride, wait for mom to catch up and then ride a second or two more.

Anyway, it was a gorgeous day in the neighborhood and at one point, we walked by these two gorgeous boxers.

Off the leash, but apparently very well trained, as they slowly approached us and began to give us the once over... with their noses.

Of course, their heads were at my crotch.

By the time one of them was done getting their fill,  I think we were married.

{At least I hope so, otherwise I feel really used.}

As we walked away, The Boy says, "Mom, that dog was totally smelling your butt."

I said, "Yeah, I guess he was trying to get to know me."

Will looks disgusted and says, "Well, that was totally awkward."

Yes, son.  Yes, it was.

Bahahahaha, man kids are just hilarious sometimes.
Seriously could you imagine if we all greeted each other that way? I have tears rolling down my face!

I'm laughing here. You are too funny. So great that you're recording these moments. I just love it when kids make "adult" comments. My favorite was my 4 year old telling my husband that my friend Lori and I were talking about "Lori's issues."
Thanks for being a loyal supporter of my blog, which I now think is more of a journal. :) I am so excited to hear all about Fishful Thinking and the staff training ideas you have to share. Can't wait!!! A

I'm still laughing. I totally DON"T get the butt smelling, really couldn't we get to know each other another way? Could you imagine if this was how human greeted each other..and if you were really attracted to someone you'd just hang out by their butt until they passed gas or something...LOL...sorry I'm rambling...I just can't stop laughing..and your kiddie is too cute with his comments.

I SO love him. He is eloquent. He is succinct. He is hilarious.

He will SO be my son-in-law. Amen.

Thanks for the laugh-some times I can't believe the things my kids come out with. Too cute!

Oh, man, you crack me up! I wish I'd have been on that walk. I miss you and The Boy. I can totally see that look on his face too. I imagine it would be the same as the one he had when we made him sit on the cheerios in the back seat of the van. Bless his heart.

Ha! Kids are so funny without even trying!

That is hysterical. Just think what he'd have said if he was older!
Totally awkward. I steer clear of big dogs. They always make me feel violated. OK, I have a story to tell you.......but probably not approprate for a blog comment. Remind me one of these days. You'll die.

Why, oh why, do dogs go right for the crotchital area?

That is so funny what he said! And...that is PRECISELY why I am a cat person, and not a dog person. Can't handle the violation.
Ha, that is hilarious! I have a boxer and they do love to sniff and lick, tee hee! Funny that your son said it was awkward!!

Ah, nothing like getting molested by the neightborhood dog. Your son's reaction was priceless.

I like to think of this as a "bonding moment" between the two of you...one that neither will forget anytime soon. :)

PS: Thanks so much for getting back to me re the Fishful Thinking. Appreciate your e-mail. Your are right. My kids are too young, but it is good for me to keep in mind for the future!

Ahh, my favorite thing about big dogs. And the owners don't seem to care how much they are embarassing you. Maybe we should get them back and re-enact the scene from "When Harry Met Sally."

Now I don't feel so bad about the Boob bouncer I posted about last week.

Dang. They could at least train the dog to greet you with a dozen roses and box of chocolate first.

Gosh, I hate it when dogs do that. It is just so annoying.

Love the "walk" you went on. We have those all the time at our house. Now we have a tricycle with a handle, so I can just push him, and man it makes life easier. I long for the day that he'll be able to pedal himself.

That's hilarious. He totally summed it up in that one word. LOVE it. What a cutie.

I hate how dogs do that.

Really awkward. Have a wonderful day! Go forth and conquer your world.
Too funny! My kids LOVE the word 'awkward', but rarely use it in the correct context like your kid did. Mine use it as a synonym for 'weird', which just doesn't quite work usually. lol

You know they're growing up when they use words like "awkward".

Elijah's new phrase is "well, that was totally random".

Are we raising valley boys or what? When did "totally" make a comeback? Or did it never go away?

How weird!

That's how me and D met!

See, I am so afraid of dogs that I would have been freaking out.
Dogs not on a leash! The horror!

LOL! We got attacked by a Basenji mix the other day...thank goodness he wasn't as big as a boxer and that boxer wasn't as vicous as that smidge of blonde fluff. She is an evil little dog.

LOVE your blog -- you hooked me with this post! I'm so thankful for SITS -- all this blog reading I'm doing is eliminating any possible time I have for housework!
I have a rottweiler and he is just at the right height to goose every man or woman that walks by him. It is just so embarrassing! Of course, to him, its polite. But I'm not sure our neighbors or visitors agree.

That's too funny. I heard someone somewhere say that when dog's sniff each other, it's their way of exchanging business cards. ;o)

Lol..I think you were used and discarded like a old piece of meat. He has now moved on to the poodle down the street. Dogs are such....well....DOGS!
Okay now that was funny! So uncalled for on that dog's part and yes, you were totally used!
